Day 2 of our journey

We had a surprise first thing, in that we had to wake up all 4 kids. We looked out the window to see rain, but went ahead with our plans to visit The Hermitage, the home of Andrew Jackson. It was a nice visit, and the rain stopped, leaving it a bit humid, but not muggy. We all learned some American history. Andrew Jackson was our country's 7th president. He owned a beautiful plantation which he opened to may orphaned children who had lost parents whom had been friends with Jackson. He also took in an orphaned Creek indian baby that soldiers brought to him on a battle field. His son, Andrew Jackson, III, was actually adopted from a family member. All of these things caught our attention now more than they would have a few years ago, before our family had experienced the wonderful miracle of adoption!

Since I'm still figuring out how to do this "blog-thing" you'll just have to look at the next post for pictures.
