Thank you God for my fam-a-yee

Elizabeth prayed her first prayer two weeks ago tonight. Her Mimi had taken her to the park for some special time, and when it came time to say our night-night prayers, she said she wanted to pray. I was more than happy to oblige, and she prayed "Thank you God Mimi take me to playground, Amen."

Every night since then she has wanted to hold our hands and pray. She is quick to tell you that she'll pray first, then you. If you wait more than a nano-second after she has said "Amen", she will tell you, "It's your turn!"

The amazing thing that melts my heart is that every night she says "Thank you God for my "fam-a-yee"". That may sound very elementary to most, but the awesomeness of that statement makes me want to cry. Two years ago tonight I was ANXIOUSLY awaiting our call to let us know who our long-awaited daughter would be. Our hearts ached with desire to bring home the little girl that we knew the Lord had for us, even though we did not know WHO she was. Now here we are, 2 years later, and that precious little girl who didn't smile much and had no family, is miraculously a part of our family, and she makes us and almost evryone she meets each day smile! What a priceless gift we have received! And that gift is not only a dark haired, dark, almond-shaped eye little girl, but also 3 wonderful blue eyed young men! THANK YOU GOD FOR MY FAMILY!!!!

I wish I could capture the sweet, sweet moments we get to spend with Elizabeth(and the boys) as we put her(them) to bed at night and save them for the day when she is much too mature for us to snuggle with her on a bottom bunk. I am thankful for Steven Curtis Chapman's admonition to us to "dance with Cinderella" while we can, because as we are already seeing with our boys, "all too soon, the clock will strike midnight...". I guess when that day comes, I can get The Three Bears out and read it to Jeff and savor the sweet memories!

This is Lizzie and I reading The Three Bears

(our current favorite)

before a nap.

(We must say our prayers then, too!)
